Bestselling author and spiritual teacher Marianne Williamson recently welcomed The Earth Elders' Founder & Convenor, Mindahi Bastida, and Head of Partnerships, Lara Mastropasqua, for a heartfelt conversation on Indigenous wisdom, regeneration, reciprocity, and humanity's sacred relationship with the living Earth.
Throughout the conversation, Mindahi and Lara shared teachings rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing—offering a vision of a future grounded not in extraction, but in relationship, responsibility, and care.
Mindahi began with a teaching that has guided Indigenous Peoples for generations:
"One thing is to live with nature and another one is to live from nature. Meaning that this planet we call Mother Earth is also family, and as family we give care. We take care."
He continued:
"When we take, we also give. That's how the universe is teaching us this way of reciprocity."
And later reminded listeners:
"When we meet our responsibilities, we also meet happiness. We also have joy for life."
Lara reflected on the moment humanity is living through:
"The work is happening, and this gives me great hope. I believe this is a time of a new paradigm being birthed."
She continued:
"How can we move from extraction to regeneration? How can we move from dominion over another person or country to reciprocity? How can we move from personal gain to collective well-being? These are Indigenous values. They have been their operating system, and we're just waking up to it."
Mindahi extended the invitation beyond any one movement or community:
"This call is for everyone. This is not only for Original Nations and Peoples, or environmentalists, or those in the regeneration movement. This is for every one of us to take responsibility for the care of life."
He closed with words that continue to resonate:
"This is the time and the time is now for us to learn from each other about the beauty of life and how we can walk with dignity—for ourselves, for others, and for the universe."
We invite you to watch the full conversation and spend time with these teachings as they were shared—in the spirit of deep listening, relationship, and hope.
